SUPPLYING CUSTOMERS ALL OVER THE WORLD SINCE 1994
ARTISTS UK | FINE ART LIMITED EDITIONS - PRINTS AND POSTERS etc | TOLKIEN
Every so often we manage to find a point where Alan Lee can sign some prints for us to sell on his behalf. There are rarely that many and they tend to disappear rather quickly but if there is no OUT OF STOCK notice in this section for the ones you want then it really is your lucky day!!!
JRR Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' is one of those classic all-time stories. It starts off sounding like a children's story with the line,"In a hole in the ground lived a hobbit..." and although children do love it so do adults who often read it several times over! It is the introduction to the epic 'Lord of the Rings' because it gives the background to the ring and some of the characters. Certainly recommended to be read before 'Lord of the Rings'. Why has Tolkien become such an immortal name in literature? Simple - he was a brilliant writer! His style and ideas transcend all times and limited perceptions. He taps into fundemental archetypes of the human psyche and creates a whole universe that is both vastly different from ours and yet in many ways very similar. In here you will find inspired images created by top artists from around the world.
The great Epic!! A big book that has been universally criticised for being TOO SHORT! It is rich with ancient tradition and the eternal battle of good and evil. The rings were forged by ancient powers and the one ring can bind all the other rings. The future of the whole of Middle-Earth in the third age rests on the fate of the one ring. In here you will find brilliant images by many great artists from the bautiful paintings of Alan Lee used for the fully illustrated version to many other interpretations used for covers etc by the likes of Roger Garland, John Howe and Ted Nasmith.
This book was put together from JRR Tolkien's notes by his son Christopher and is a brilliant exposition of al the history BEFORE 'The Lord of the Rings'. Starting with the creation of the universe it goes on through the first two ages of Middle Earth before the age of man. It is a very dense tome, rather like an old bible, but well worth reading after 'Lord of the Rings' (then read 'The Hobbit' and 'Lord of the Rings' again!). Here you find out the origin of Sauron and who he served (and his origin too!). The main artists for this section of Tolkien work are undoubtably Ted Nasmith, John Howe and Roger Garland but there are others as well. Although this is probably the least read of the main books it has spawned some of the best pictures..see for yourself. We've also included any images from associated Tolkien books here as well.
