One of Chris Foss' most brilliant concepts and there are two paintings of this scene. This one is a large 600 x 900 mm poster. The image size is not the overall size and will vary in this set depending on the shape of the original painting. Title and artist are shown in the border and do not impinge on the image. When framing this poster we frame just the image and not the words as it looks a lot better that way. If you want it done differently please contact us by email. IMPORTANT! Due to the large size the framing option on this print is only available for orders delivered within the UK at rates shown. Overseas customers will be contacted via email regarding additional courier costs before order is finalised for processing. |

Official 'Bright Spark Craig Lambert' from the USA tells us this painting was for the book of the same name published by Grafton in 1986 and in paperback in 1989 by Ace. He goes on to say, "The author is David Mace. Its a marvelous piece of warnography (a la Tom Clancy) but with a refreshing anti-militarist viewpoint. The last few nuclear units still fighting as Planet Earth sinks into nuclear winter (more or less everyone else is already dead). Very depressing (but then so is Dr. Strangelove...how else do you write about thermonuclear war?). Here's hoping you ship to Yanks 'cause I'm ordering it right now." Image size is 390 x 280 mm mounted in 60 mm acid-free mountboard to a great overall size of 510 x 400 mm!

Lovely idea of a ghostly spaceship. Image size is 390 x 280 mm mounted in 60 mm acid-free mountboard to a great overall size of 510 x 400 mm! BRIGHT SPARK Louise Foley tells us - "... the Chris Foss print named as "Ghost" is for the book of the same name by Piers Anthony, first printed (according to the official fansite) in 1986 by Tor. The main character of the story is "Shetland", commander of an experimental spaceship, who's task is to find new energy sources for an earth where a waste of resources is outlawed. Shetland travels with his crew to the unknown void beyond the end of the universe, and once there finds nothing but ghosts, the ghost of the ships dead chemist, and the massless burned out ghosts of dead planets, dead stars, and dead nebulae. Then there is a galaxy sized black hole - the ghost of a cosmos, the ghost of all reality. It is a very spooky story and I agree with your view of Foss's spaceships - they indeed do look like they have actually been on "active service", even the one's that look like they haven't been through a meteor storm - yet." Now everyone who reads that will have to go out and buy the book! |
