THE ROAD (With Dolphins) original painting by Roger Dean (1996)
This Roger Dean painting is acrylic on board and is 46" x 26" (1170mm x 660mm) © Roger Dean 1996 2014It is an unusual piece as it was a commission from outside of the music and games industries. It was commissioned by Agrip, an Italian oil company, way back in 1996 and painted as one of three pieces on the theme of a road. It features someof Roger Dean's well-known "trademarks" including those arches and the pathway itself. It is very rare for a Roger Dean original to come onto the market since they are generally in the collections of long-term fans and collectors who have no intention of selling. When Roger Dean originals do come up for sale they are much sought-after and often go for hundreds of thousands depending on what it is related to (a YES cover for example). This Roger Dean original painting is, by contrast, having been commissioned outside of the music and games industry not in the same bracket but still a lovely piece for a fan of Roger Dean to have up on the wall and being an original Roger Dean painting it should acquire value over time. Supplied in the plain black wooden frame it is currently in. Being painted in acrylics no glass is necessary.
