VERY RARE NOW AS WE TRACK DOWN THE LAST FEW SETS ! This is a gorgeous set of eight plates of reproductions of Alan Lee's pencil sketch illustration work. Some of the illustrations have a light watercolour wash behind them as well. It is rare to find the whole set of these Alan Lee prints intact as people often split them up for framing. Limited to 750 print sets signed & numbered on the cover plate with a piece by Alan Lee about his methods and approach to illustration. These Alan Lee prints are all on 420mm x 355mm acid-free board and printed full colour to get all the tones of the original Alan Lee illustrations (Ive seen some of the originals so I'll vouch for these prints!). This is a brilliant collectors item for all Alan Lee fans or anyone who loves brilliant sketchwork. Some lucky people were able to buy some of Alan Lees proof prints of these sketches from us years ago. Now weve found a few of these Drawings of Alan Lee portfolios so you can have the whole set. Published in 1983 they are very rare and hard to come by. The eight Alan Lee prints are presented in a decorative sturdy box with a detail of Gawain on the cover. This box set is under Alan Lee's own section on www.artistsuk.co.uk

There were many years where we never saw a copy of this beautiful Limited Edition of Alan Lee's painting of 'Gereint' for 'The Mabinogion'. It is probably the most collectible Alan Lee limited edition available and almost impossible to find as practically all of them are in the hands of private collectors of Alan Lee's work. It is a limited edition of 1000 copies that were published way back in the early eighties. It sold out so quickly that it has been practically impossible to find copies for sale anywhere. Private buyers just don't seem to be able to bear parting with it once they've managed to get one (and who can blame them!). We have managed to locate a few copies at a very reasonable price but when they are gone we think it highly unlikely that more copies will become available. It is signed under the image in pencil on the right as usual and numbered on the left under the image. The image is 225 x 230 mm in a 60mm mount to an overall size of 387 x 432 mm, which is the overall board size it is printed on so we have left it loose against the mount for those who may wish to store it separately unmounted. LESS THAN FOUR LEFT.

Here is Olwen, daughter of the chief of giants whom Culuch has to win by performing some impossible tasks. Wherever she walks litle white flowers grow in the path behind her. The image size is 242 x 373 mm and mounted in a 60mm mount to an overall size of 390 x 525 mm ready for framing. Hand-signed by Alan Lee under the image as usual with signature on right and A/P on the left. This Alan Lee Limited Edition comprised only 450 copies of the two prints - Olwen & Blodeudd - sold together in a slipcase with matching numbers. These Artist Proof copies represent the statutory 10% of the edition so there are only 45 copies signed and marked A/P by Alan Lee. Should be very collectible one day, especially as a pair, which is why we have offered the option of buying a pair of these Alan Lee proofs until one of them has sold out (see below). This post-production proof has a very slight flaw in the printing but it is only noticeable on close examination.

Each one mounted and framed using plastic glass. Rare item. These two brilliant prints of Alan Lee's great Arthurian paintings were not published or sold as a pair so it is not easy to get matching numbers but then that's what we're here for isn't it! Have the history of King Arthur in two matching limited editions by one of the greatest ever British artists. Alan Lee has captured two of the most poignant moments in the story - that of King Arthur as the young Wart with Merlin for the first time and the last time he goes to see him as an old man before his last battle. Pairs of Alan Lee's Sword in the Stone and Book of Merlyn are very rare so could end up being quite collectible. Each image size is 458 x 270 mm on an overall heavy acid-free board of around 300gsm. Supplied mounted in 60 mm mounts to overall size 510 x 610 mm and then framed with a matching frame. LESS THAN FOUR SETS AVAILABLE

One of Alan Lee's finest paintings for the illustrated 'Lord of the Rings'. The original was hanging over his fireplace until it sold at auction. Image size is 477 x 295mm. Overall board size is 565 x 373mm. Supplied unmounted due to it's size. Signed and numbered to 500 by Alan Lee. Printed on acid-free board on a hand-press using light-fast inks and proofed against the original painting. The technique in Alan Lee's watercolour work is unbelievable. He uses very few technical tricks to achieve the results. There are certain things you have to do - white is the white of the paper so Alan Lee had to paint where the white isn't to get that effect on the waterfall! This Alan Lee limited edition is pretty much the same size as the original painting. The original has a grey watercolour border which is shown in the fully illustrated Lord of the Rings book. It's a great way to bring out a picture that is being printed in a book but is a bit limiting on a large fine-art print so we left it off and the image is the size the original was with the border (confused?). The colours are identical to the original painting. Well, let's put it this way - I couldn't spot the difference and nor could Alan Lee so that's good enough for me. Published by Artists UK. This extremely rare item is one of the original promotional posters produced by the book publisher many years ago when Alan Lee's painting was used for the cover of Mervin Peake's classic work. They were used in bookshops to advertise the new edition of the book but as with most of these promotional items they were either scrapped at the end of the promotion or taken by a member of staff who probably had no idea it might be of value one day as Alan Lee was not as well known then as he is now. As with his piece that was split into three for 'Lord of the Rings' once upon a time for the three books, the same was done with this painting for the three books. If you look closely you'll see Fuchia, Flay and Barquentine in this picture as well as a number of Lady Groan's cats on the left. Certainly one of Alan Lee's finest paintings. This poster measures 605 x 910 mm and is in very good condition with only slight dings to the edges. It has been SIGNED by Alan Lee in the bottom right border so that really makes it a wonderful collectible. Great for fans of Mervin Peake and Alan Lee alike. We only have one copy left though so if you want it ....
