ALAN LEE

Alan Lee is an enigmatic master-craftsman who is one of the most highly regarded artists among artists themselves. Alan Lee generally works in watercolours with a style that no-one can genuinely imitate. There is an ethereal quality to it, like there is a light shining through from the other side. His sketchwork is just as brilliant as a look at 'The Drawings of Alan Lee' will show if you ever get the chance to see this rare portfolio of his sketchwork. The only artist to have fully illustrated JRR Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' is of course Alan Lee and Alan Lee was also the first choice as conceptual designer to work on the three films of Tolkien's trilogy. In addition, Alan Lee also fully illustrated 'The Hobbit'. Celtic scenes are a favourite with Alan Lee. In the mid-seventies Alan Lee fulfilled a life-long ambition to illustrate 'The Mabinogion', a collection of Welsh folklore. Since Alan Lee is one of the very greatest of British fantasy artists we are proud to have worked with him in publishing his beautiful paintings of Tolkien's Middle-Earth as fine-art Limited Edition prints that you will find in this section along with prints of Alan Lee's other work and an Alan Lee artist profile.

BRIAN FROUD

Brian Froud was the designer of creatures for 'The Labyrinth' and 'Dark Crystal' films. Brian Froud is also the creative genius behind a host of best-selling books (see Artists UK bookshop) and with a long track record of publishing over many years Brian Froud is a sought after painter and designer. With Alan Lee Brian Froud produced the amazing 'Faeries' book that still sells well some 30 years on! Brian Froud is a true visionary painter who has an intimate knowledge of the faery realm and channels this creative energy out into his painting. Brian Froud's technique, whether in drawing or painting is sheer brilliance and his work has become highly collectable all round the globe. Come in and see our great collection of Brian Froud prints ...

LIMITED EDITION PRINTS

These are the best of Brian's work. Nowadays there are a few more Limited editions around of his work. A few years back there were hardly any but his career has taken a big surge with so many brilliant books and excellent film work.

GOOD FAERIES, BAD FAERIES

WENDY FROUD

Famous for her work on films like the Dark Crystal Wendy Froud is one of the most incredible model-makers in the world today. ROGER DEAN

Roger Dean posters, Roger Dean posters and yet more Roger Dean posters! One of the biggest names in amazing fantastic art must be Roger Dean which funnily enough is quite a short name! Fabulous technique, innovative ideas and experimentation are all here on these fabulous posters and prints of Roger Dean's classic artwork. In the early seventies you weren't much of a rock band if Roger Dean hadn't done at least one of your album covers and he did loads! From the likes of YES and OSIBISA where Roger Dean did most of their covers to URIAH HEEP, BUDGIE, GREENSLADE and even a Tamla Motown Chartbusters! Beautiful Landscapes combine with surreal imagery. Some of these prints have been specially initalled for Artists UK by Roger Dean and there are rare warehouse finds of old posters. Whether you want that old Roger Dean poster back as a new Roger Dean poster again or a new Roger Dean poster you didn't have as a poster before, we've probably got the poster for you. This is likely to be the best collection of Roger Dean posters you'll find on the web!

ED ORG

If you like pencil sketch work then here is a large selection of beautiful art from the talented hand of Ed Org.

Ed Org got his BA in art on a Fine Art Course in 1979 and since then he has had plenty of commercial experience to hone his skills working as a graphic designer and illustrator. As you'll see from these beautiful images Ed Org is a talent to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, Ed Org's beautiful and subtle pencil sketch work is difficult to photograph so these small jpgs give only a rough idea of the beautifullly detailed and brilliantly executed fine-art prints of Ed Org's artwork you will receive when you order them.

FRANCOIS SCHUITEN

A brilliant comic artist and designer whose artwork has earned him world-wide renown. These massive heavy textured paper prints of his work, way beyond the quality of a poster, are just absolutely stunning. We try our best but the images here do not do justice to the real thing. Seeing is believing!

FANTASY FOIL PRINTS

If you like the foil printing medium these are very good examples of the process where the colours and textures change as the light catches the picture from different angles. This of course means they are an absolute pain to photograph so when you see glares of light on some of them you'll know that that doesn't quite equate to the reality of the image but to an increase in gray hairs amongst our photographic staff! There are various New Age and Celtic images in here so click on in ..........

LARGE FRAMED OR MOUNTED & FRAMED FOIL PRINTS

For a really stunning great image these are the bizniz if you're into foil prints. There are lots of cheap imitations around but these are by the originators of the best foil process around. Clear sharp detail and the light reflecting off the facets of the foiling. Great stuff! Due to the limitations of the supply contract these can only be supplied framed or mounted and framed.

THE GARLAND FAMILY

Roger, Linda and their son Seth have such a wealth of talent between them it is so unreal it ought to be a fantasy story in itself! Roger is most known for Tolkien illustration and has produced many paintings for book covers of Tolkien titles. Linda is mainly known for her depiction of Celtic subjects and the female divine energies which became the focus for their brilliant self-published book 'She, The Goddess' (now sadly out-of-print). Seth is a different matter yet again - prepare yourself for this one - even his 'A' level pieces were worthy of a great master like Magritte. He could become the greatest surrealist painter of this century at this rate ... unless he decides to paint portraits for a living or become the trendiest exhibitor at the Tate.

THE PRECIOUS JEWELS SET

A set of six brilliant images inspired by different precious stones - Ruby, Diamond, Emerald, Sapphire, Lapis Lazuli and Amethyst. They are all printed on board and signed by Linda or Roger. The overall colour of each picture is similar to the jewel it represents. The image sizes are all 265 x 192mm with an overall size of 408 x 335mm in a 60 mm mount. The title and signature are in the border. £10 each. £50 for all six..

ROGER GARLAND

RODNEY MATTHEWS

A trawl through the massive repertoire of this major talent. Here are the brilliant 'Alice in Wonderland' paintings by Rodney Matthews as very large fine-art limited editions. Loads of album covers by Rodney Matthews. As you may know, one of Rodney Matthews' key influences was the legendary Roger Dean but, as any visitor to his CD-ROM 'Between Earth and the End of Time' will know there were lots of others. Rodney Matthews did album covers for the likes of Rick Wakeman , Nazareth, Diamond Head, Asia, Magnum and Praying Mantis. Several biblical paintings here too. As you may know, Rodney Matthews is a devout Christian and has painted many scenes from the Bible in his own unique way.

THE FINE ART LIMITED EDITIONS

These are the best reproductions available of any of the paintings by Rodney Matthews and arguably the best work he has produced. Real collector's pieces!

POSTERS

Posters of many of Rodney Mathhews' greatest images including Magnum covers, covers for other bands as well as Tolkien and Moorcock related artwork.

BIBLICAL PAINTINGS

All the images in here have been inspired by Christian teachings and associated moral codes (eg. Stop The Slaughter). Rodney Matthews has been known to refuse work that contravenes his Christian morals. He feels very strongly that art should be inspirational and bringing the words of the scriptures to life in vivid images is part of that belief. There are also a couple of Rodney Matthews posters in the posters section on this theme.

STUART DILLEY

Stuart Dilley was a great find for Artists UK and you saw him here first! This talented artist has been behind the scenes helping to design jewelry for a major gothic clothing manufacturer for years. Stuart Dilley was inspired in his youth by the likes of Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac and later by the works of Brian Froud and Alan Lee. Stuart Dilley's style is bold and evocative and he draws on a host of Celtic, Wicca and Gothic themes for his paintings. All the prints here have been signed by him with a gold or silver pen. All the images shown here are available as prints signed by Stuart Dilley in one of two image sizes: Standard or Large. From Shakespeare to King Arthur and beyond! Come on in and see the amazing art of Stuart Dilley !

VICTORIA POYSER - MAGICAL PAINTINGS

A beautiful style of art that has adorned many book covers including the books by Anne McCaffrey, Tanith Lee and Michael Reeves to name a few. She lives and works in the USA. Many of these prints were published in the early eighties and certainly not going to be seen in the high street nowadays! Grab 'em while you can!

FLOWER FAIRIES by Cicely Mary Barker

The beautiful Flower Fairies of Cicely May Barker. Some lovely large mounted prints here. This mainly self-taught artist has captured the hearts of generation after generation with her simple but beautifully painted fairies. She lived in South London and I once met the people who now own the house she lived in but they didn't tell me if they had found fairies at the bottom of the garden....

LARGER PRINTS

These are about the largest prints available of these lovely fairies. Since the original works were quite small this is about the largest they can easily be reproduced without losing the definition and sharpness of the images.

SMALLER PRINTS

There a couple of odd ones but most of the others are around the same size so they make up into nice sets of fairies. You could collect a set of your favourites for the stairs or hallway for instance.

MINIATURE PRINTS

These cute little miniatures are ideal for those little rooms or hallways where you don't want massive great pictures.

RUTH SANDERSON

Another artist we've come across who produces really excellent work! We are talking some great images here, especially if you like cats and/or celtic/faery-inspired artwork. Beautiful images very well executed and published as open edition prints or limited editions. Click in and have a look!!

MICHAEL KALUTA

GIL BRUVEL - LUSH OTHERWORLD FANTASY

This wonderful painter from the south of France was actually born down-under in Sidney, Australia. If you loved the excesses of Moulin Rouge then you'll love these and even if you didn't you'll probably still love these! Prints and posters.

DAVID WYATT

This stunningly talented artist has produced possibly the definitive 'Grey Havens' in the Tolkien arena and possibly the best re-working ever of JRR Tolkien's own painting of 'Conversation with Smaug'. He has worked for many different publishers and you'll probably see a few book-covers here you recognise for the likes of Terry Pratchett and Alan Garner. Apart from the Ciglee Limited Edition of 'The Hobbit, the images in here are all available as limited edition digital prints in standard or large size. The whole limited edition for each of these prints comprises 600 signed and numbered prints in two sizes - large and standard - with each of these joint editions numbered over 300 and signed by the artist. They have been digitally printed by the artist himself on high quality photographic paper. See individual print profiles for image sizes etc. Since all these prints have been hand-signed and numbered in these two sizes to only 300 copies by the artist especially for Artists UK there you go - a nice special pressie not found in the shops!

JACK SHALATAIN

He describes himself as a visionary painter. We've described him before as a modern pre-raphealite. However you describe his work there is no getting away from the universal appeal of these beautiful paintings. His trademark is a very subtle style mixing hues of various soft colours into a dreamy collage of waves and images. Faeries, Unicorns and Pegasus are firm favourites in subject matter but there are many other visions as well. Come on in and enjoy.

OLD COLLECTIBLE POSTERS

It was over ten years ago that W&G published these large posters of Jack Shalatain's beautiful paintings and theyare still the largest reproductions of his work to date measuring a grand 680 x 980 mm (or 38 x 27 inches for our non-metricated customers). They are pretty much impossible to find in good condition nowadays, having gone they way of all posters but these are from the artist's own supply and are all SIGNED by him so apart from the odd light surface crease they are in pefect condition. Dry-mounted and framed they look very impressive.

LARGE PRINTS AND LIMITED EDITIONS

Large prints and Limited Editions of some of his most popular images including several of the best unicorn paintings and 'Fairies Threading Moonlight'.

SMALL MOUNTED PRINTS

Jack Shalatain's lovely unicorns as well as a mermaid, fairy, Oberon & Titania, Galahad and, well, more unicorns of course.

SULAMITH WULFING

Gorgeous images by this wonderful painter from Germany who is sadly no longer with us but left a legacy of beautiful paintings when she passed away in 1989. She was a devotee of Jiddu Krishnamurti and whilst her husband fought for Germany in World War ll she was persecuted by the Nazis and almost ended up in a Concentration Camp. She painted fairies and angels with a gracefulness that brought them alive in a way that few other artists have managed.

SUSAN SEDDON BOULET POSTERS

Her name is synonymous with rich vibrant otherworldy painting as her work explores the old traditions from all over the world. You will also find some books featuring her work in our bookshop. The posters shown in here are all 610 x 915 mm (24" x 36").

TOLKIEN

A vast array of images inspired by the works of JRR Tolkien by many of the top artists around the world including, among others, Alan Lee, Ted Nasmith, Roger Garland, John Howe and Peter Pracownik. There's enough here to build your very own Tolkien Gallery in your own home!

SIGNED ALAN LEE PRINTS

Every so often we manage to find a point where Alan Lee can sign some prints for us to sell on his behalf. There are rarely that many and they tend to disappear rather quickly but if there is no OUT OF STOCK notice in this section for the ones you want then it really is your lucky day!!!

THE HOBBIT

JRR Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' is one of those classic all-time stories. It starts off sounding like a children's story with the line,"In a hole in the ground lived a hobbit..." and although children do love it so do adults who often read it several times over! It is the introduction to the epic 'Lord of the Rings' because it gives the background to the ring and some of the characters. Certainly recommended to be read before 'Lord of the Rings'. Why has Tolkien become such an immortal name in literature? Simple - he was a brilliant writer! His style and ideas transcend all times and limited perceptions. He taps into fundemental archetypes of the human psyche and creates a whole universe that is both vastly different from ours and yet in many ways very similar. In here you will find inspired images created by top artists from around the world.

ALAN LEE

Who could you ever associate more with Tolkien's writing in terms of artwork than the enigmatic master-painter Alan Lee? Here are various prints of his work and some copies signed by the man himself specially for us while stocks last.

OTHER TOLKIEN ARTISTS

There are many other artists who have illustrated JRR Tolkien's books and some of them are represented here including the odd one by Tolkien himself when we have them.

LORD OF THE RINGS

The great Epic!! A big book that has been universally criticised for being TOO SHORT! It is rich with ancient tradition and the eternal battle of good and evil. The rings were forged by ancient powers and the one ring can bind all the other rings. The future of the whole of Middle-Earth in the third age rests on the fate of the one ring. In here you will find brilliant images by many great artists from the bautiful paintings of Alan Lee used for the fully illustrated version to many other interpretations used for covers etc by the likes of Roger Garland, John Howe and Ted Nasmith.

ALAN LEE

The master painter who is still the only artist to have been commissioned to fully illustrate 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy and main consultant for the three films of said books.

JOHN HOWE

A great artist who lives in Switzerland and has produced masses of artwork based on Tolkien's work including arguably the definitive Gandalf.

MICHAEL KALUTA

A collection of very old plates dry-mounted and matted ready for framing. Michael Kulata's work is always bold and colourful. If you like these you'll also find some wonderful old posters and prints of Michael Kaluta's other work on our website. Just put Kaluta in our Search Engine and you'll get to see them all.

DAVID WYATT

See his own section for more of his excellent work and The Hobbit section for his excellent ciglee ltd edition.

PETER PRACOWNIK

This great New Age Visionary artist was a perfect choice to bring in to work on Tolkien-inspired work and he has produced several great works on commission for publishers working with the Tolkien family.

ROGER GARLAND

Roger has produced many brilliant book covers for Tolkien books including those by JRR Tolkien's son as he continued on with his father's work. Much of his focus has been on The Silmarillion but again he has produced some excellent 'Lord of the Rings' paintings too - just look at that amazing gigantic landscape limited edition for starters!

TED NASMITH

The brilliant Canadian artist who has focused quite heavily on paintings inspired by The Silmarillion but has also produced excellent work based on 'Lord of the Rings'.

RODNEY MATTHEWS

Tolkien is not really what he is known for (words like Magnum, Asia etc spring more readily to mind) but one look at his brilliant 'Treebeard' will convince you he has every right to be included in this section.

ED BEARD JUNIOR

Excellent American artist who produced artwork for the Crown Tolkien Game which is what most of the images in here were used for.

OTHER ARTISTS

Section for artists where we only have one or two pieces by them or they are collectible or otherwise in short supply.

THE SILMARILLION etc

This book was put together from JRR Tolkien's notes by his son Christopher and is a brilliant exposition of al the history BEFORE 'The Lord of the Rings'. Starting with the creation of the universe it goes on through the first two ages of Middle Earth before the age of man. It is a very dense tome, rather like an old bible, but well worth reading after 'Lord of the Rings' (then read 'The Hobbit' and 'Lord of the Rings' again!). Here you find out the origin of Sauron and who he served (and his origin too!). The main artists for this section of Tolkien work are undoubtably Ted Nasmith, John Howe and Roger Garland but there are others as well. Although this is probably the least read of the main books it has spawned some of the best pictures..see for yourself. We've also included any images from associated Tolkien books here as well.

HERE BE DRAGONS

Although you will find dragons roaming all through the pages of our website we manage to keep most of them in here! It's the same problem we've always had with the paper catalogue - they are just so difficult to keep under control!

JAY BLAKEMORE

His career spans a wide range of activities from being in the RAF to spraying electric guitars. Born in Coventry you might be amazed to know that he never attended Art College (but then nor did the incredible Patrick Woodroffe who is one of his stated inspirations). He has been involved in the Enchantica novels, Interzone and Wizart to name but a few. Since the majority of these prints are dragons we felt we'd include all his work in this section which are all nicely printed and signed by Jay in silver pen. He hasn't yet become one of the great recognised talents so you might have a nice little collectible one day. If not, well, there really are some great dragons here so click on the old button and take a look!

CIRUELO CABRAL

If there was an artist who has defined theart of painting dragons maybe it is this guy! Just look at that the staggering majesty of the Dark Dragon! WOW! Use the SEARCH facility if you want to find Ciruelo's other non-dragon prints on the site as mostly the dragon ones are shown here. You'll also find a T-shirt or two in the T-Shirt section.

LARGE SIGNED CIRUELO PRINTS

Medium to massive size unmounted prints - ALL SIGNED BY CIRUELO !!!

SIGNED MOUNTED CIRUELO PRINTS

Smaller mounted prints - ALL SIGNED BY CIRUELO !!!

PETER PRACOWNIK

The archytypal New Age artist has painted many, many dragons in his long career. If only the original 'Time of Dragons' was still around but you can't have it all...where would you put it?

MICHAEL WHELAN

The versatile genius of this American artist knows no bounds and here are some gorgeous dragons to prove it!

GENERAL SECTION

All those lonely dragons where we have little else by that artist so it isn't worth making a cyberpen for them under the artist's name. If you are one of these artists and you have any others to keep the lonely ones company then let us know. To get a look at ALL the dragons it is probably best to use our SEARCH facility and search for "dragon" and "dragons".

DISCWORLD - BY THE GREAT JOSH KIRBY

Josh Kirby was the artist most associated with Discworld, having been commissioned to produce all the covers for this incredibly succesful series of over twenty-five books by the astoundingly talented writer Terry Pratchett. His was one of the biggest names in sci-fi/fantasy art and produced an astounding volume of work during his long career. In the bookshop you'll find two books all about his work (as long as they are print). There are collectable fine-art Discworld Limited Editions here published by Artists UK and stacks of standard Discworld prints of various sizes and prices. Josh Kirby died on 23rd October 2001 and is sadly missed by fans all over the world. A great loss to three worlds - the world of fantasy art, the real world and the Discworld.

DISCWORLD LIMITED EDITION FINE ART PRINTS

Although we have a large range of Discworld prints for sale these are rather special. We published these in conjunction with Josh Kirby so that there would be some really authentic reproductions of his work available and which, being limited to only 500 copies signed and numbered by him, are collectable items. They are all printed to a very high specification using hand presses in the old traditional way to get the sharpest definition and as close as perfect colour match to the originals as possible. In the initial stages a number of "wet proofs" were produced to be matched against the original paintings by Josh to select the best possible colour match (No one can do this better than the artist himself). They are printed on a very heavy 350gsm acid-free board that won't wrinkle or yellow over time. The inks used are 'light-fast' which as you've already guessed means they don't fade but if you stick them in the sun to prove this you will find that Josh's signature might fade so not a clever idea! Artists UK are pleased to have been involved in producing the only high quality fine-art limited editions available of Josh Kirby's paintings. Josh always said, "they are excellent quality prints". Only five hundred people in the world will get to own one of each of these fabulous reproductions. There are still a few artist's proof copies available until they sell-out (and yep, they're much rarer and cost more!).

DISCWORLD STANDARD PRINTS

In response to the wishes of the avid Discworld collectors amongst our customers these have now been divided up not by genre but by the series they belong to so that each type is grouped together. In this way you can make sure you are buying matching ones or ones that match to the ones you already have by just comparing the image sizes. Howzat?

SERIES 1 - THE EARLIEST PRINTS

These were the earliest reproductions of the Josh Kirby Discworld paintings. They have the advantage of being mostly the largest versions where there are more than one version but the colours are not as vibrant. However, the colour balance is correct (see series 2).

SERIES 2 - DISCWORLD PRINTS

These have the advantage, although slightly smaller, of being more vibrant than the early ones but there is more black in the mix than the others. However, images like 'The Colour of Magic' do show the fullest extent of the original painting, which is not true in some other versions.

SERIES 3 - THE LATEST OF THE THREE

Possibly the best reproductions with vibrant colour and good colour balance although, obviously, not all the best images are available in this series.

HORROR AND THE DARK SIDE

If you're into New Age and positivity and all that stuff then keep out! This is the bad stuff - the other side, the dark side where demons and ghouls rule and vampires lurk in the shadows waiting for their evening meal of human blood (you want fries with that?). But, a slice of our philosophy here, whether you want it or not, is that the dark and the light are always found together in contrast or in battle and that is the source of all creativity. For this reason, although we stock a large range of the dark side we prefer those images that show a hint of the light just as we tend not to be so keen on New Age art that has no dark elements. But, what you like is up to you and although we might prefer Giger's 'Li', you might prefer his dark "landscapes". So; enough of this mortal prattling..Hail! Horrors! Hail!...come in if you dare! Abandon hope all ye who enter here!!

DAVE McKEAN

From the stark and demanding graphics of the Sandman covers to the elaborate inventiveness of album covers for the likes of Paradise Lost is the realm of the awesome talent of Dave McKean. A truly modern artist with a totally original style owing little to the traditions of fantasy illustration or painting that have gone before. These covers here are without the words and were published back in 1997. They have been specially dry-mounted to keep them flat and in good condition and mounted in bevel-cut mounts to show them in their full glory. We have very limited stock of these and it is unlikely we will get anymore when they are gone.

DORIAN CLEAVENGER

One of the most exciting artists around nowadays and his 'Razor Gothic' has always been popular with our customers. Strong bold images of stylish denizens of the dark-side, biomechanoid, fetish, gothic and beautiful fantasy - its all here. He takes on the genres of other great artists and shows how easily he matches up to them!

PHILIPPE CORIAT

We originally understood from sources in the trade that his work was photo collage but there is no photo collage in his SF and Fantasy work. All are original paintings, drawn by hand using a graphic tablet, from a "white page" (screen) using no scan or any effect. Each painting needs between 40 and 100 hours of work.

VAMPIRES

Here's the place for vampires whether you spell that vampir, vampyr, vampyre, vampire or vampirella! The gothic undead are ready for you. Fancy a bite?

JOHN BOLTON - THE SEXIEST VAMPIRES EVER !!

<<< CLICK ON THIS LINK - John Bolton is a major British artist based in the London area with a long track record of brilliant work but certainly one of his greatest achievement to date has been the creation of the most dangerously erotic vampires ever conceived of! These paintings all come under the title of VAMPIR. In this section is a selection of the best of these which have been beautifully reproduced very large by lithography on quality paper. They are rare and difficult to come by now and we have limited stock. The quality of these prints has to be seen to be believed and once framed and up on the wall they look absolutely stunning!!! We also now have his portfolio of Death sketchwork in stock in this section.

HR GIGER

The great Alien-designer and king of all things dark and brooding!

GHOULS - ZOMBIES - GOBLINS AND OTHER GRIM FOLK

The denizens of the dark stalk these pages. Do you dare enter? Will you ever get out?

SCIENCE FICTION ART

This is the general section for sci-fi art where we put artists whose work is predominantly influenced or for science fiction. Where we don't have enough by the artist to give them their own section their work is in the miscellaneous section. That means you'll find Chris Foss, Jim Burns, Bruce Pennington etc in their own sections. But you'll find some amazing images and famous names in the miscellaneous section too !

TIM WHITE

Another technical master-craftsman who has not had the recognition his work spanning several decades deserves. Brilliant covers for books by major sci-fi and fantasy writers did not even credit him as the artist in the seventies but once you know his work you know who did them. If you want to get to know his work better then look in our bookshop for his newly back in print book.

CHRIS FOSS

REAL Spaceships are often felt by sci-fi fans to have been invented by this guy! They look like they've been through space, not all pristine and "just left the factory". Some stretch the credibility in terms of their structure but, hey, this is the future - anything can happen! How many book covers has he done? Who knows? He probably doesn't either - it's some Quendrillions worth! But he did make more money out of illustrating DR Comfort's 'Joy of Sex' - no surprises there! (and no pictures from it in here! This is serious sci-fi!).

JIM BURNS

Jim Burns is one of the greatest airbrush artists in the world today who has won numerous awards and sells his originals in America because the European public haven't woken up to how collectable his work is likely to be in years to come. A sad loss for Britain that this amazing artist's original work will nearly all end up in the States. Attention to detail and a mesmerizing realism pervade Jim Burns' work. Many of the characters Jim Burns has invented seem too real to not really exist! He has collaborated with many great names and if you haven't read the fully illustrated 'Planet Story' by Harry Harrison you really don't know what you've missed! It is a kind of humorous sci-fi spoof that really ought to have been a major film before now. Anyway, click into here and enjoy the work of Jim Burns - a brilliant master-craftsman.

LIMITED EDITION PRINTS

A selection of some of Jim Burns' finest work as quality Limited Edition prints. Most of these are prints that Jim Burns has produced or overseen the production of himself and supplied to us directly. Jim Burns has personally signed them and numbered or marked them as Artist Proof copies as appropriate. If you are looking to buy a Jim Burns collectible then here is the place.

STANDARD PRINTS AND SIGNED STANDARD PRINTS

Most of the standard prints in here have been signed by Jim Burns especially for us. There are tons of incredible images in here for you to buy. Impress your friends or frighten your relatives!

BRUCE PENNINGTON

This great British artist doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves nowadays. Anyone with a collection of sixties and seventies sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks knows his work whether they know his name or not. The textures and colours he uses are unmistakeable. Influenced more by The Impressionists than by classical painters and obsessed with the unnusual he is one of those unique painters recognizable instantly. There is a surrealist influence in much of his work and subjects (often defined by the book!) range from HP Lovecraft to aliens and even pussycats! If you haven't seen his work before go click and come in and enjoy! For the real collectors there are some copies availabl that Bruce Pennington has specially initialled for us!

DANNY FLYNN

Danny Flynn's book 'Only Visiting This Planet' in our bookshop is a great overview of his work. Here you can buy prints of varying sizes - some signed by him. His work encompases Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror. He has worked closely with celebrated author Arthur C clarke.

LARGER PRINTS AND POSTERS

Larger posters and prints of Danny Flynn artwork including probably the best poster for a bathroom or toilet door ever !!! - Out of Sync !!!

MINIATURE PRINTS OF DANNY FLYNN ART

Here is a range of small miniatures of Danny Flynn artwork from rare out-of-print artcards published way back in the early nineties. These are beautiful, nicely printed glossy miniatures that can make up a lovely colection of the artist's work.

GERRY ANDERSON

From the early days of Supercar and Fireball XL5 through Stingray to the awesome Thunderbirds and then on to Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 Mr Anderson and his crew were a force to be reckoned with in early animation using puppets and realistic model sets (everything looked dirty and used as it would in real life). By today's standards of high tech CGI and animatronics it looks very tame but for those who grew up in the sixties it was really something special. If you are older than you are prepared to own up to or know someone who is then there might be something special in here.

STINGRAY

Well, it was basically a submarine that looked more like a sportscar wasn't it? Add in a few fishfaced enemies that always looked like they were suffering from piles and a mermaid who didn't speak and there you go - instant TV success!!! Here are some miniature snapshots from the series.

THUNDERBIRDS

This was the greatest of all wasn't it but unfortunately we have very few left so grab 'em while you can. This is all we have so please don't E-Mail us asking for others. If we get any they will go in here straight away.

CAPTAIN SCARLET

I'm not sure any of us where quite sure exactly what it was all about some of the time but certainly these Mysterons were a force to be reckoned with although it was difficult to be too afraid of something that was just a disembodied voice saying "This is the Voice of the Mysterons - our bodies are off somewhere else having fun!". These miniatures are great little snapshots. Collect as many as you dare before someone guesses you are not as young as you keep saying you are!

STAR WARS

Photo-montage images from the early Star wars films.

CHILDRENS ART AND ILLUSTRATION

Prints of his art for Michael Moorcock books.

SKETCHES AND OTHER WORK

Just have a look at that Sword of Roses! Not to mention the great sketches of Sarah Bernhardt and Jane Morris too.

FRANK FRAZETTA

Here is the godfather of heroic fantasy who has influenced so many other great artists (one of the best nowadays being Simon bisley - check him out!). What is there to say? He was a one-man revolution in fantasy art and described by some of today's artists as the greatest artist who ever lived.

SIMON BISLEY

Most well-known as one of the best 2000 AD artists ever, Simon Bisley is a remarkable self-taught artist in the style of Frank Frazetta who he greatly admires. In his early days he used to paint people's motorbikes for them. Surviving examples of this are now worth a small fortune. If you haven't read any graphic novels he's illustrated we would recommend "Judgement on Gotham" and "Slaine the Horned God" which are both excellent examples of his brilliant style and technique. In here are a selection of plates and prints covering Slaine and other 2000 AD work etc. Most of these are long out-of-print.

HECTOR GOMEZ

Well-known for his fabulous portrayals of archetypal fantasy females in unusual settings here are a few great ones you can hang up.

THE AMAZING ART OF TSR

Maybe the word 'Dragonlance' means something to you, maybe not, but TSR artists produced some amazing artwork to illustrate their fabulous worlds. Here are examples by great artists like Fred Fields, Robh Ruppel, Keith Parkinson, Paul Jaquays and Jeff Easley. These large glossy artcards were published way back in the early nineties and look stunning when professionally mounted.

ALPHONSE MUCHA

In the latter part of the nineteenth century this incredibly talented guy from a small town in Czechoslovakia went forth and eventually conquered the hearts of people all over the world with this beautiful work. He was both a designer and a painter who worked in his long career in such diverse fields as theatre set design, jewellery, architecture and sculpture. He was part of the growing Art Nouveau movement in France and Britain. Although this movement went into a decline not long after the beginning of the twentieth century somehow Mucha's work has still retained a fond place in the hearts of generation after generation. You can see and buy some in here......

TODD LOCKWOOD

Another great TSR artist and gaming illustrator who has produced masses of fabulous painting. You've seen his work everywhere but propbably not realised it was him. Fiery dragons, fiesty robot hunters, swashbuckling heroes - take a look in here and see some brilliant work.

NENE A TINA THOMAS

Beautiful Romantic Fantasy at it's best! Bold gorgeous lush images by this very talented artist.

The unique talent behind so much of the world of Manga Entertainment from Tank Police to Ghost in the Shell and many others.

CHRIS ACHILLEOS

Greek Cypriot painter who is far more famous in the USA than here in the UK where he has lived most of his life. From erotic women to dark gothic images Chris has turned out many incredible pieces of work. He is greatly admire by other artists. One BIG name in fantasy art said of him that he wished he could find a flaw in his work sometimes. Big praise indeed. If you want an overview of his work there is the book 'Sirens' in our bookshop. There are not masses of prints available so get them while you can!

RARE OLD POSTERS AND COLLECTABLES

Some of these are in very short supply even for us so if you want a number of things it might be best to prioritise these ones because once they've gone they will be nigh impossible to replace.

There are a couple of images available as magnets that are not in our other ranges so its certainly worth a look through here for those....

THE WONDERFUL ROMANTIC ART OF JEFFREY JONES

People have been known to say generally of comic artists (if they are particularly stupid or snobbish about art),"Oh, he's not much of an artist - he just does comics." Well, this guy did comics!! So did several other brilliant artists and Jeffrey Jones is one of the best. Some of his works should be hanging in major national galleries alongside the old classical painters. There's his brilliant 'Blind Narcissus' and the later companion piece 'Age of Innocence' for starters. If you like romantic fantasy art in the old style you must get a look at this!

JUAN GIMENEZ

Images from the Metabaron Saga....available as signed or unsigned prints.

THE INCREDIBLE WORK OF BARRY WINDSOR-SMITH

In the early seventies the name Barry Windsor-Smith (or just Barry Smith) was synonymous with craftsmanship - Barry Windsor-Smith was so dedicated to his work that despite being paid a rate per page he turned out comic pages with incredible detail that have become very collectable. Fine ink-work is BNarry Smith's trade-mark and although there are other great draughtsmen around there is a massive following surrounding this British artist who produced a wealth of incredible comic art in storylines for Conan etc. Barry Windsor-Smith also set up his own printing press 'The Gorblimey Press', which, although it was short-lived, turned out a lovely range of large prints and posters of his work. These are now very collectable as well. You'll find some of these Gorblimey Press Barry Windsor-Smith prints in our collection here at Artists UK.

MAGIC THE GATHERING

GEOFF TAYLOR - DAVID EDDINGS BOOK COVERS etc

The books of the Malloreon and Belgariad by David Eddings have been on sale in bookshops for year after year after year. The covers were painted by this talented British painter.

THOMAS CANTY

One of those artists who tries to keep out of the limelight but never quite succeeds because he is just so brilliant! He is quite reclusive though and we know very little about him. He is a mainly self-taught American artist who has worked for several different publishers and whose work is highly collectable. He is one of our personal favourites here. Anyone with info on Mr Canty is welcome to E-Mail it to us.

KEITH PARKINSON

JULIE BELL

Linked romantically to Boris Vallejo she is often regarded as the female version of artwork. Her trademark is steel monsters with lovely women (or men). She has done a fair bit of work for Marvel comics too.

BORIS VALLEJO

Probably the most well-known Heroic Fantasy artist in the world. A perfectionist in terms of human anatomy and a skilled figure drawer as well as painter. You have seen his work - it's almost impossible not to have done!

THE INCREDIBLY POWERFUL ART OF BROM

Combining the power and impact of a Frazetta painting with more contemporary gothic images and delivering them with a skill and uniqueness like few others. JOE JUSKO

RICHARD CORBEN

One of the greatest comic artists around who has had a long and glorious career with fans all over the globe. Very little of his work available in print but here are a few for you to collect.

EROTIC and PIN-UP ART

Let Alberto Vargas, Olivia De Berardinis, Gil Elvgren and others take you on a tour of sensual delights. But you may also find similar images under other sections as classifying some of these artists is pretty much impossible.

GENERAL EROTIC WORK INCLUDING SORAYAMA AND ROYO

Japanese artist extraordinaire Sorayama has captivated people the world over or enraged them or staggered them or caused any number of other reactions. He has a big following in the fetish clubs and some of his work is pretty extreme (though not the ones contained in here which will either relieve you or disappoint you as the case may be!). Who else could give a glittering silver robot the appeal of a glamour model? Luis Royo has graced the covers of Heavy Metal magazine and produced some stunning work. Milo Manara is also on of the all-time greats. Click and get in there !

GIL ELVGREN

One of the all-time greats of pin-up art whose technique and creativity changed the face of calendars etc forever. Gil began his career in book illustration at the age of eight but this was in the margins of his schoolbooks so it didn’t go down too well! He was born in 1914 in Minnesota and though he looked more like a burly football player than an artist his skill was undeniable. He was the most talented student at the American Academy of Art and after graduation worked his way up to being one of the top pin-up artists of all time. He used a variety of models and was a perfectionist. He died of cancer on 29th February 1980. Since then a number of people have been involved in publishing his works and unless otherwise stated these come from the print collections published or licensed by B&B. These are not to be confused with the 'Limited Editions' published by Daniel Vancas who paints replicas of Elvgren's work (so they are not signed and numbered by Elvgren I'm afraid) . Most of the ones we have here are a similar size so a set of them on the wall looks just great!

ALBERTO VARGAS 1896 - 1982

Mostly known for his pin-up girls painted in the forties for calendars etc he is now quite a legend in this field. All the more so since one of the greatest modern artists in this genre, Olivia De Berardinis, was inspired by his work. Sadly, he is no longer with us but his amazing talent lives on through his work and here we have collected together prints of some of his best work. Many are the same size so they make great sets when mounted and framed.

LARGER PRINTS

These are around 300 x 425 mm. That's roughly A3 size in the UK.

SMALLER PRINTS

These are around 240 x 290 mm or under. That's roughly A4 size in the UK.

OLIVIA DE BERARDINIS

Arguably the most amazing pin-up artist around today! I guess it takes a woman to paint women this well! There is a technical excellence here that produces a sensual and erotic feel without ever becoming crass. Her work is a tribute to the female form, never degrading or demeaning it. Her style is a kind of modern-day Alberto Vargas. Indeed, he wrote to her once proclaiming that she now had her own style which nobody can nor dare imitate. There are
