I must admit that old Tom Bombadil is one of my favourite characters and I was so disappointed when they cut him out of that appalling first animation film of Lord of the Rings and then again for the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Now this must be a scene to end all sceners. One of the most climatic parts of The Lord of the Rings and extremely well painted here by Ted Nasmith. I think most people would envisage Gandalf fighting the Balrog as being just like this.
