MOUNTING, FRAMING AND GIFT WRAPPING SERVICES

A lot of people like the individual approach of picking an image, buying a print or limited edition and sorting out the frame that matches it. Some people find this a rather tiresome business and want something a bit more straightforward. This is for those people. We can mount your prints to fit into the standard frame sizes on offer in the shops (usually 254x204mm(10 x 8"), 240 x 300mm, 300 x 400mm or 400 x 500mm although this may not be the case in countries abroad and you may need to tell us the next size up from the overall size that you need the printed mounted to fit to). All you need to do is add one of these to your order for each print you want SFMS for. If some prints require SFMS and some don't then you'll need to email us to tell us which prints in your order require SFMS. If you take a look at the image and overall sizes given in the catalogue you can probably get some idea how it will work out. Do remember that limited editions will often have a border between the image and the mount for signing and numbering. Just subtract the Image Size and Mount Size from the Overall Size to find out the border if you need to know. SFMS works best if the top and bottom of the mount work out larger than the sides. A print that has a 3cm mount width top and bottom and 8cm on the sides can look a bit odd. Maximum image size for SFMS is 340 x 440 (and this only allows for a 30mm mount). We were asked so many times how come we don’t offer framing anymore just because we no longer have a physical retail outlet. The answer was basically the rather fragile nature of glass which has now been solved! We are framing with our custom high grade plastic glass which is practically indistinguishable from glass but is much lighter and doesn’t break. Unlike a number of online suppliers we don't just put your print into a standard frame. We frame it properly. Even if you choose a black frame we will look at gloss, matt or graphite options for the moulding to make it look as good as possible. The photograph here shows a range of framing orders that were in our workshop at the same time. As you can see, they vary tremendously and we have used different kinds of mounts and frames to bring out the best in each picture.

Ordering your prints framed is easy! In many sections of the website framing has already been added as an option but if it hasn't been added yet for your chosen print(s) then just follow these three simple steps:-

1. Add together the two OVERALL SIZE measurements of the print you want. For example, if the overall mounted size is 455 x 375 mm then this is a total of 830 total mm.

2. Find the price bracket in the following table for that measurement and note the price:-

Under 600 total mm = £23.50p.

601 to 800 total mm = £28.50p

801 to 1000 total mm = £32.00p

1001 to 1200 total mm = £39.90p

For prints larger than this (eg posters) you will need to contact us for a special price.

3. Order your prints through the website and then email us to specify which ones want framed and we will add on the appropriate amount to your order for framing plus an extra £7 per order (not per frame) for additional carriage costs and confirm it back to you by email. Overseas customers please note that framed items larger than the above largest size will almost certainly require a substantially increased carriage charge.

All framing is done to the same high standard customers expected of us at Merton Abbey Mills back in the "early days". Each job is carefully considered and an appropriate moulding chosen to match the colours and textures of the image.
